SALES & ESTIMATING MANAGER

The function of this position is to manage the sales and estimating department. To include budgeting, estimating and sales while maintaining and promoting our corporate image of excellence through quality service on projects. Manage the department staff and ensure project profitability through efficient estimating methods.

Job Accountabilities

  • Coordinate, manage and monitor the work within the estimating department
  • Achieve annual sales goals for the department at company established mark-ups through own sales and the sales of the estimating staff
  • Must be fluent in budgeting and financial reports
  • Ability to cultivate, establish and maintain client relationships
  • 8-9M in landscape, irrigation and hardscape sales
  • Represent and promote the company at related industry functions
  • Maintain client roster to assure follow up with potential client opportunities
  • Manage and maintain job files in central file system to ensure timely, proper and effective project documentation
  • Prepare rationale statements to support the estimate identifying areas of weakness and or areas of risk
  • Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of estimates in accordance with specifications and approved procedure for all phases of the works from the agreed deliverables to the appropriate level of accuracy
  • Reviews contractual documents and modifications to determine scope of work and scope of changes.
  • Continuously monitor the performance of the estimating process
  • Direct and assist with the design, development and preparation of marketing materials
  • Direct regularly scheduled sales and marketing meetings
  • Meet deadlines with effective time management

Experience

  • 10 years of experience in landscaping field
  • Solid working knowledge of estimating, project management, construction and contracting
  • Demonstrated sales skills

Skills

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Sage Timberline (preferred not required)
  • Experience performing Take-Offs (preferred)
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective business and management principles and practices
  • Effective project management principles and practices

Education

Preferred not required – Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, construction or other applicable degree


Project Manager

The Project Manager oversees assigned projects on time and within budget from contract to closeout.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Ability to read and understand architectural, civil and landscape plans.
  • Create budgets and schedule of values, once contract has been awarded.
  • Work with vendors/suppliers, prepare and submit project submittals, and order relevant materials/supplies/equipment once submittals are approved.
  • Select any subcontractors and issue sub-contracts.
  • Understand the scope of the project, identify the project participants, keep updated contact information and communicate in a timely manner.
  • Process monthly AIA payment requests.
  • Review General Contractor’s RFI’s, CCD’s, ASI’s and compose proposals, RFI’s, and change order documents to be sent to General Contractor that pertain to our work.
  • Perform material takeoffs using PlanSwift software.
  • Manage project schedule and evaluate the progress of the project to ensure that the timeline is followed steadily and consistently.
  • Perform warranty walks, manage all warranty obligations, prepare work orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Attend weekly site meetings for projects in progress.
  • Perform quality control inspections and execute punch list items in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Operations Manager, Estimating Department, and other Project Managers.
  • May require preparation of estimates and bid proposals for future potential projects where necessary.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Five plus years of proven, successful landscape project management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time with close attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Ability to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally

Project Manager Assistant

The Project Manager Assistant provides administrative support for projects, under the direction of the project managers.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assistant to the project management team, completing tasks as assigned.
  • Stay informed and communicate about project status and project manager’s duties to ensure all assigned tasks and duties are accounted for and completed in a timely manner.
  • Understand the scope of the project, identify the project participants, keep updated contact information and ensure that you have a reliable means of communicating at all times during the day with the project team.
  • Evaluate the progress of the project to ensure that the timeline is followed steadily and consistently.
  • Perform important administrative functions for the project managers – updating the project schedule, taking minutes at meetings, making phone calls to vendors and suppliers, responding to e-mails, prepare submittals, change order pricing, working with Purchasing Manager to follow up on materials orders, research possible sources for project materials, site furnishings, etc.
  • Work with Project Managers to provide prompt responses to customer requests or issues.

Skills/Experience Required

  • Prior project management assistant experience preferred
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time with close attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Driver – Class A

The Landscape Truck Driver is an important part of the operations of Arteka Companies. This position hauls and delivers materials (soil, rock, mulch, plants, trees, site furnishings, equipment, etc) to our construction teams. The position may also load and unload trucks, help operate equipment on jobs if truck driving routes are not needed at times, willingness to help crews with other work is important. Attention to detail and multitasking is a quality that is needed for this position. This position at time will need to start very early or work late. Safety and following all trucking regulations is vital.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Valid driver’s license with safe driving record
  • Commercial Driver’s License
  • Valid Department of Transportation healthcard
  • Organized and detailed to complete services in professional manner
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. and operate equipment in sitting position for up to 8 hrs./time
  • Positive attitude, hard working and organized individual to work safely in a team environment
  • Previous trucking experience and landscape/construction equipment operation and load securement
  • Must be able to pass pre employment drug screen

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Five years irrigation and or landscape experience
  • Equipment operation, load securement
  • Bilingual; would be beneficial

COMPENSATION:

  • Hourly dependent upon qualifications and experience. Position will be full time seasonal from approximately April 1st to November 24th (weather dependent).

LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN

Lead crew in efficiency, production, training and safety protocol.

  • Interacts with all clientele on job site to help ensure job satisfaction
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals of differing knowledge and background (i.e. clients, contractors, vendors, other designers)
  • Work directly with and lead a crew of 4 or more to complete assigned projects
  • Coach, train and supervise crew members
  • Read and execute designs and properly install landscapes from start to finish.
  • Efficiently complete projects on time and within budget
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in installing a variety of hardscape and soft scape applications, grading, irrigation, drainage and plant installation
  • Knowledge and experience with heavy equipment including trucks and trailers, mini-excavators, skid steer with various attachments, and small equipment and tools
  • Strong time management skills
  • Comply with all safety regulations and requirements
  • Maintain organized work areas

LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION ASSISTANT FOREMAN

Responsible for delivery of quality and professional landscape construction services to our clients. Supporting the Foreman in daily responsibilities.

  • Work with the Foreman for equipment needed, repairs and crew staffing
  • Lead crew in efficiency, production, training and safety protocol
  • Train new employees
  • Report safety issues, landscape needs, equipment issues, staffing issues, and any other items during the course of a day immediately to Foreman or Operations Manager
    Maintain professional and clean appearance, and maintain professional and clean equipment and production
  • Time management is essential, all jobs have budgets that must be kept or company profitability will decrease; suggest improvements; recommend areas of improvement in production, staffing and equipment
  • Complete all timecards, site checklists, pre-trip and safety paperwork on time and legibly
  • Available during snow events

LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION LABORERS

Responsible for delivery of quality and professional landscape construction services to our clients.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in landscaping or construction industry
  • Ability to work in various weather situations; rain, sleet, snow, cold and heat
  • Ability to work and operate equipment in a safe manner
  • Be available for snow removal during the snow season and other misc. as assigned.
  • Position requires a valid driver’s license and driving record that is insurable on the company policy
  • 1 year landscaping experience preferred

IRRIGATION FOREMAN

Responsible for assuring the irrigation team delivers quality and professional services to our customers.

  • Oversee and supervise teams of 3-5 employees daily efficiently and effectively
  • Work performed will include irrigation start-ups, may also include installing or upgrading systems
  • Technician will inspect, monitor, and repair irrigation systems to maximize efficiency, and to conform with local and state water guidelines/restrictions
  • Manage efficiency and quality of work, following all required safety protocol
